DiaForum 2006 - Speakers

DiaForum 2006 featured high profile speakers drawn from the academia, civil society, national and international community.

 

Bernard De Gerlache Mr De Gerlache is the President of the Belgian Luxembourg ACP chamber of commerce. With membership made up of private Belgian companies with interests in Africa, the chamber's objective is the development of relations between Belgium-Luxembourg/Africa-Caribbean-Pacific and vice-versa in the field of industrial, commercial, agricultural and cultural exchanges. Mr. De Gerlache is also board member of a number of Belgian companies.

                                                                              

John Page Mr. John Page is the Chief Economist for the Africa Region at the World Bank. In this position, he provides strategic guidance and policy advice for the Bank’s country strategies and operations in Africa. He is also responsible for intellectual leadership of the Region’s economic management, growth, poverty reduction, trade and regional integration agenda.
Bram SCHIM VAN DER LOEFF Mr SchimVan Der Loeff is the communication and information manager for the ACP/Investment facility of the European Investment Bank
Dr. Hamed Sow Dr. Sow is the Director, Center for the development of Enterprise CDE), Brussels, Belgium
Patrice Dufour Mr. Dufour is the communication and external relations officer, Center forthe Development of Enterprise (CDE), an EU sponsored center for the promotion of investments in Africa.
Amb. René Makongo His Excellency René Makongo is the Ambassador of the Republic of Gabon to the Benelux countries and to the European Union. He is also the current president of the African Group of Ambassadors.
Amb. Clarkson Umelo His Excellency Ambassador C. Umelo is the Nigerian ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and to the European Union.

                                                           

Yves de Rosee Mr. Yves de Rosee is a senior project's officer with the International Finance Corporation. He assumed responsibility for the Brussels office of this institution early in 2006.
Bwalya Mwali Originally from Zambia, Ms. Mwali has invested in the Jewellery sector in her native Zambia as well as in Mali.
Jean-Marie Rurimirije Mr. Rurmirije, has established a thriving health insurance scheme in his native Burundi.
Béatrice Gakuba Mrs. Gakuba is the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Flor, a Kigali-based flower production firm. Previously,  member of the African diaspora working for the World bank Group and other international insititutions, Mrs. Gakuba decided to invest in her native Rwanda.
Loic de Canniere Managing Director, Incofin - Impulse Microfinance Investment Fund, Belgium. Prior to joining INCOFIN,he worked as project finance specialist for the DEME Group, a leading marine engineering company, where he was in charge of financing large port construction projects worldwide through structured finance in Africa and Asis.
Cécile Carlier Parnotte Mrs Carlier Parnotte is industrial adviser, United Nations Organisation for Industrial Development, Paris, France. She joined UNIDO in 1994, focusing on the industrial partnership between France and latin America for the first 6 years. In 2000, she moved to the Africa department with responsibility for investment promotion for African countries in ITPO, Paris.
Paul Goosens Mr. Goosens is the Senior Investment officer, Belgian Investment Organisation (BIO), Brussels, Belgium. He manages the SME Fund, BIO's investment vehicle for local SMEs. Prior to joining BIO in 2005, Mr Goosens worked for 5 years with GINV in private equity investment after an international career with Schlumberger.
Dina Ionescu Dina Ionescu is a research fellow at the Geneva headquarters of the International Organisation for Migration
Peter Von Bethlenfalvy Mr. Von Bethlenfalvy is the regional representative of the International office for Migration in Brussels.
Barbara Kasekende Ms. Barbara Kasekende is the International & Corporate Marketing Manager of  Akright Projects, Kampala, Uganda, a company active in the tourism sector in the East African region.
Frances B. Marshoff H.E. Frances Marshoff is the Premier of the  Free State Province of  South Africa
Nosimo BALINDLELA H.E. N.  BALINDLELA is the Premier of the Eastern Cape Region, south Africa
Jasminar Gasnolar Mrs Gasnolar is the Regional Manager, Asset Finance within the small and emerging markets department of ABSA Bank. This bank is part of the Absa Group, one of South Africa's largest financial services organisations which also provides products and services to selected markets internationally.
